Koh-Lanta and Deliveroo bring you (re)discover edible insects!

On the occasion of the release of the new season of Koh-Lanta (the famous French survival show), titled “The Cursed Tribe,” Deliveroo has teamed up with Jimini’s to offer its customers an “Adventurer’s Extra.” What better way to enjoy your favorite show than with a delicious dish topped with edible insects?

The return of insects in the immunity challenge!

What does this actually involve? We all remember the famous challenge where Koh-Lanta contestants must eat insects or other exotic (to say the least) foods, often raw and not particularly appetizing. The goal is simple: to test the adventurers so they can prove their worth and resilience when faced with foods deemed particularly unpleasant by the production team. At Jimini’s, we have been working for years to improve the image of edible insects, and we are proud of how far we have come, even though we are still a long way from our destination. Today, we can say that most French people have heard of edible insects, and several million have already tasted them at least once. But let’s get back to the main topic, the Koh-Lanta x Deliveroo partnership.

What’s in the Koh-Lanta adventurer’s extra?

In the box created for the new season of Koh-Lanta, you’ll find: 4 balls (3 white and one black) in a small jute bag. The principle is simple and reminiscent of the show’s challenges: whoever draws the black ball must eat Jimini’s insects, choosing from: garlic & Provençal herb mealworms, plain crickets, and pepper & sun-dried tomato grasshoppers. A great way to experience something unique, push your limits, and maybe even think, “It’s not bad, actually, I could have a few more!”

A marketing campaign that improves the image of insects?

We’ve often been advised to associate Jimini’s with the famous reality TV show (26 seasons and counting!), but until now, we had chosen to stay away from Koh-Lanta. We didn’t want to link insect consumption with the idea of survival and endurance challenges. However, it’s clear that the show is still beloved by viewers and conveys values that resonate with us as well: adventure, perseverance, and determination. The journey of the Jimini’s team over the years has felt like a series of increasingly difficult challenges, but we have never given up. And if this initiative can help introduce edible insects to a large number of French people, we say a big “yes!” We are proud to have been selected by Deliveroo and TF1 for the quality of our products and our expertise.
