If we talk about cooking insects, do you think about savoury or sweet recipes? We say both! But for today, we present a sweet recipe full of colours! It has been cooked by our talented friend Myriamksky who loves creating culinary art on Instagram. The delicacy of the day: Mealworms cupcakes ??
This recipe with insects will be perfect as a dessert or as a tasty snack during your coffee break.
Cooking insectes : 6 Mealworms cupcakes
3 bowls / 1 cupcakes mould/ 1 pastry bag / 1 spatula / 1 sieve
- 3 Tbsp of cocoa
- 60 g of margarine
- 125 g Stévia
- 1 egg
- 1/2 low fat yogurt
- 30 g of all purpouse flower
- 25 g of mealworms for cooking (keep 10 insects aside as a decoration)
- 1/2 tsp. of baking powder
For the chocolate glazing :
-80 g of dark chocolate, 10 cl of low-fat cream
For the pink and white mascarpone glazing :
-80 g of mascarpone, 30 g of sugar, Pink food colouring
Preheat the oven at 180 °C
In the first bowl, mix the cocoa with 2 or 3 tbs of water to get a paste.
In the second bowl, melt the margarine, add the cocoa paste, the sugar, the egg, the yoghourt and the baking powder.
in the third bowl, turn the mealworms into powder and mix them with the flour.
Mix the third and second bowl together. Stir everything well. Put your preparation in 6 cupcakes mould and cook for 15 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes, unmold the muffins and let totally cool down.
Chocolate glazing: Heat up the cream and once it’s boiling, pour it on the chocolate cut in small pieces. Stir.
Pink and white mascarpone glazing: Stir gently with a spatula the mascarpone with the sieved icing sugar, then divide in two. One mix will be white and the second pink (add 2 drops of pink colouring). Do not stir up to vigorously or your preparation will become too liquid. Take a pastry bag and build a triangle, pour on the 3 preparations on each side and decorate the cupcakes with the 3 colours : chocolate, pink and yellow.
Add some mealworms on top as a decoration
